Catholicos of All Armenians Karekin II met with Dr. Hugo Slim, director and senior research fellow at the Las Casas Institute for Social Justice at Blackfriars Hall, University of Oxford, at the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin. They discussed issues concerning the rights of forcibly displaced Armenians from Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) and the preservation of Armenian heritage in Artsakh.
The participants emphasized the importance of cooperation among Christian churches, the academic community and humanitarian organizations in protecting fundamental human rights and ensuring social justice, according to the Mother See’s Information Service.
During the meeting, they exchanged views on expanding cooperation between Blackfriars Hall and the Armenian Diocese of the United Kingdom and Ireland, organizing academic research on the protection of the rights of Karabakh Armenians and Armenian heritage, and holding academic conferences in Oxford.
They also discussed opportunities for clergy to pursue studies and conduct research at Blackfriars Hall.
