Georgia sees economic benefits from South Caucasus peace

Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze welcomed the peace process initiated between Armenia and Azerbaijan, expressing hope that it would contribute to economic progress in the South Caucasus.

He made the remarks during the 11th meeting of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation between Azerbaijan and Georgia, APA reports.

“Against the backdrop of the geopolitical changes currently taking place in the region, strengthening peace and stability among the peoples of the South Caucasus, as well as maintaining peaceful coexistence and continued dialogue, is becoming particularly important,” Kobakhidze said.

Turning to Georgian-Azerbaijani relations, Kobakhidze emphasized the importance of continuously expanding economic cooperation between the two countries.

On August 8, the U.S., Armenia and Azerbaijan issued a joint statement marking the first anniversary of the Peace Summit held at the White House on August 8, 2025. The statement noted that the joint declaration, with U.S. support, had provided Armenia and Azerbaijan with a clear roadmap for consolidating peace, achieving prosperity and deepening their partnership. In the year since the meeting of these bold leaders, the countries have laid the groundwork for sustained success.
