Armenia’s presidency will continue following the conclusion of the COP17 conference held in Yerevan, Environment Minister Hambardzum Matevosyan announced on his Facebook page.
The minister noted that the conference’s final press briefing provided another opportunity to reflect on the work accomplished collectively and express gratitude to everyone whose efforts helped communicate the proceedings and outcomes of the Yerevan conference to the international community.
Matevosyan expressed particular appreciation to representatives of Armenian and international media outlets that covered the event.
“Thank you for accompanying us throughout this journey during the conference, sharing the long working days and sleepless nights, raising important questions and keeping nature conservation at the forefront of public attention.
Thanks to your work, the conference’s decisions and messages reached audiences beyond the negotiating rooms. You introduced the people behind those decisions and helped showcase the warmth and hospitality of our country. Through your reporting, the world also came to know Armenia as a unifying and responsible partner.
The conference has concluded, but Armenia’s presidency and our joint work continue. Ahead lies the task of implementing the decisions adopted, and throughout that process, your attention and consistent coverage will be just as important,” he wrote.
The 17th meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Convention on Biological Diversity (COP17) officially opened on the evening of October 18 at the Meridian Center in Yerevan and concluded on October 31.
