Investigators from Armenia’s Investigative Committee have been conducting searches since early morning at the homes of Samvel Karapetyan, leader of the Strong Armenia party, and Narek Karapetyan, head of the party’s parliamentary faction.
The searches were reported on Facebook by Aghavni Sukiasyan, spokesperson for the Strong Armenia party.
“Searches are also taking place at other addresses linked to the Karapetyan family,” she wrote.
The Investigative Committee subsequently issued a statement confirming a broader operation.
“Simultaneous searches are being conducted at 65 addresses as part of criminal proceedings under investigation by the Main Department for the Investigation of Economic Crimes and Smuggling of the Investigative Committee of the Republic of Armenia,” the committee said.
