EU customs system activates trade preferences for Armenian goods

Trade preferences for Armenian goods became fully reflected in the European Union’s Integrated Tariff (TARIC) system on November 3, Armenia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Trade announced.

According to the ministry, businesses importing Armenian goods into Belgium reported that the implementation of the EU’s autonomous trade measures in the TARIC system had been delayed, leaving the preferences technically unavailable.

The ministry said it had taken steps through Armenia’s Mission to the EU to resolve the issue.

“As a result, the preferences established for Armenian goods will be fully reflected in the EU’s Integrated Tariff system from November 3 at 7:00 p.m. (10:00 p.m. Yerevan time). Customs duties paid by exporters since October 10, when the EU’s autonomous measures entered into force, will be eligible for reimbursement in accordance with the established procedures,” the ministry said.

The European Commission has allocated €34 million to Armenia to mitigate the impact of Russian trade restrictions on the private sector.

The funding is the first installment of a broader support package announced by European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, which includes trade facilitation and solidarity measures aimed at strengthening Armenia’s economic resilience.
