Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has announced plans to attend the 31st United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP31), scheduled for November 9–20 in Antalya, Turkey.
Speaking to journalists following a government meeting, Pashinyan confirmed his intention to participate in the summit.
“I have plans to travel to Antalya to participate in COP,” he said, Sputnik Armenia reports.
The conference will take place at the ANFAŞ Antalya Expo Center, following the 17th Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (COP17) in Yerevan.
COP31 will operate under an unusual leadership arrangement, with Turkey and Australia sharing responsibilities for the summit.
Turkey will host the conference and hold its presidency, represented by Environment Minister Murat Kurum. Australia, represented by Climate Change Minister Chris Bowen, will lead the climate negotiations.
The summit will focus on “delivery,” emphasizing the implementation of existing international climate commitments and the transition from pledges to concrete action.
