RA PARLIAMENT APPROVED PARTICIPATION OF ARMENIAN SOLDIERS IN PEACEMAKING OPERATIONS IN KOSOVO

Last Saturday Armenian parliament ratified the Armenian-Greek inter-governmental memorandum on the participation of the Armenian soldiers in the international peacemaking operations in Kosovo within the Greek battalion. At present the corresponding letter is awaited from the NATO. As Armenian defense minister Serge Sargsian stated earlier, a platoon of Armenian soldiers will leave for Kosovo supposedly in January 2004. As it was mentioned in the protocol attached to the memorandum, the Greek party will cover all the expenses for the accommodation of the Armenian peacemakers in Kosovo, the soldiers’ and officers’ month salary comprising 360 and 510 euros correspondingly. The rotation of the Armenian peacemakers will be exercised once a six months’ term.
