BAND OF DRUG DEALERS DETAINED IN YEREVAN

The other day in the Yerevan airport of Zvartnots the officers of the National Security Service (NSS) detained three members of a gang making living by drug traffic. According to the report by the NSS press office, Yerevan residents Ruben Hayrapetian, Artashes Harutyunian and Artur Darbinian tried to import a heroin lot from the Russian city of Astrakhan to Yerevan. As result of the operative-investigatory measures a number of other band members, namely former MHA officers Artur Aghajanian and Gevork Vardanian, in whose flats weapons, ammunition and drugs were found, have been arrested. By the efforts of the NSS officers it was revealed that during 2001-2003 the criminal grouping imported to Armenia 7 kilos of heroin, that was sold $120 per gram. A criminal case was instituted due to the corresponding article of the Criminal Code.
