Turkish Minister of Foreign Affairs Ahmet Davutoglu threatened France with retaliatory moves if the French parliament approves the bill on criminalizing the denial of the Armenian Genocide, CNN Turk reports.
“If France adopts the bill, Turkey will take retaliatory steps and introduce a bill on recognition of the genocide committed by France in Algeria in 1945 that claimed the lives of 45,000 people,” said Davutoglu.
A draft law envisaging a one-year prison sentence and 45,000 euro fine for denying the Armenian Genocide is due to go before French parliament this week.
