As Armenian foreign minister Vardan Oskanian told journalists in Yerevan yesterday, he intends to meet with Turkish MFA head Abdullah Gul in New York within the framework of the 58-th session of the UN General Assembly. In his words, “this meeting will shed light upon the prospects of improvement of Armenian-Turkish relations”. Commenting on the frequent reports about the possibility of opening the Armenian-Turkish border, the minister noted that he had never pinned his hopes on the soonest settlement of the problem”. At the same time Vàrdan Oskanian emphasized that he can hardly conceive the possibility of establishing diplomatic relations between Armenia and Turkey without opening the border.
