OSCE MINSK GROUP RUSSIAN CO-CHAIR SATISFIED WITH MEETINGS WITH NAGORNO KARABAKH LEADERSHIP

New Russian co-chair of the OSCE Minsk group Yuri Merzlyakov, who is in the zone of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict, today met with foreign minister of the Nagorno Karabakh Republic (NKR) Ashot Gulian. According to a report of the press service of the NKR foreign ministry, the Russian diplomat has appreciated the meeting, noting that contacts with representatives of the Karabakh leadership will let him form a comprehensive notion of the situation in Nagorno Karabakh, as well as the conflict itself, which is very important for the subsequent work of the OSCE Minsk group. The Russian diplomat reported that after the presidential election in Azerbaijan the “Minsk” co-chairs intend to visit the region, including Nagorno Karabakh. Today Yury Merzlyakov’s meeting with NKR defense minister Seyran Ohanian was held. Military and political conditions in the region and situation at the line of contact between the Armed Forces of Nagorno Karabakh and Azerbaijan were discussed.
