RESPONSIBILITY FOR OSCE MONITORING FAILURE LIES WITH AZERI SIDE, ARMENIAN DEFENSE MINISTER DEPUTY EMPHASIZED

Armenian defense ministry makes the Azeri side responsible for the failure of the OSCE monitoring at the Armenian and Azeri armed forces contact line August 19. Armenian Armed Forces Staff Chief, deputy to the defense minister, Major-General Mikael Harutyunian told “Arminfo” agency. In his words, upon the investigation it was discovered that a gunshot was really fired in the course of the monitoring. An ordinary hunter fired the shot at the distance of 3 kilometers from the frontier, after what the Azeris opened fire. “As it was proved by the results of the investigation and according to the field assistants to OSCE acting chairman’s private representative Anjey Caspshik, Armenian party did not fire a single shot”, – M. Harutyunian emphasized. “Azeri side violated the agreement on providing security during the monitoring”, – Harutyunian stated adding that Armenian defense ministry will present the corresponding paper to A. Caspshik in the nearest future.
