ILHAM ALIYEV MILITARIST STATEMENTS DUE TO PROBLEMS AFTER COMING TO POWER, RUSSIAN POLITICAL SCIENTIST SUPPOSES

The resumption of the Karabakh war is impossible, stated director of the Russian Institute for Political Research Sergey Markov, when being asked by “Novye Izvestiya” Russian newspaper to comment on Ilham Aliyev’s statement on the opportunity of solution of the Karabakh conflict by means of force. He emphasized there would be an explosion in case force was applied, and no one is interested in that, as both Azerbaijan and Armenia want to develop dynamically. In the political scientist’s words, the statement is not novel and is the repetition of the well-known formula: actually leaders of all states having unrecognized secessionist republics state “we will solve the conflict peacefully, but we reserve to ourselves the right of military solution.” Such statements are made by the Georgian leadership, China states it referring to Taiwan, as well as many other countries do so, Sergey Markov noted. However, it is not ruled out that Aliyev’s statement is made for attracting public attention to the issue, he added. “It would be troubling. Ilham Aliyev seeks popularity, as new problems have appeared after his coming to power,” the Russian political scientist concluded.
