PACE TO DISCUSS MONITORING REPORT ON ARMENIA JANUARY 27

At its January 27 sitting the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) will hear a report over the monitoring held in Armenia over meeting the commitments to the Council of Europe by the country. As reported by the National Assembly of Armenia, a parliamentary delegation of Armenia today left for Strasbourg to participate in the PACE sitting. The report reflects all aspects of the social and political life of Armenia, beginning with evaluation of the presidential and parliamentary election held in the country, ending with the Nagorno Karabakh problem. According to the source, the Armenian party intends to attain to making changes in a report item over the Nagorno Karabakh conflict. Specifically, it will be suggested to leave out the words “other” and “seized” from the wording “the issue of Nagorno Karabakh and other seized territories of Azerbaijan.” Such a wording, in the Armenian delegation’s opinion, can form an erroneous notion that Nagorno Karabakh is also one of the territories seized.
