Armenia has offered engineering assistance to Georgia in restoring the Abkhazian strip of the Transcaucasian railway in case of lifting the blockade, minister of transport and communication of Armenia Andranik Manukian told journalists. In his words, the opening of the Abkhazian strip, which connects Russia with Georgia and Armenia, is favorable not only for Armenia, but also for Georgia, which has to transport its cargo via an alternative route through Azerbaijan, paying for the transit. He added that Russia also shows interest in lifting the blockade of the railway. It should be reminded that official Tbilisi binds the solution of the issue with the return of Georgian refugees to Abkhazia.
