PROBLEMS OF ARMENIAN AND AZERI REFUGEES SHOULD BE SOLVED DIFFERENTLY, PACE RAPPORTEUR ON KARABAKH SUPPOSES

Stories I have heard from Armenian and Azeri refugees are similar, however their problems should be solved differently. Rapporteur of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe Terry Davis told journalists in Stepanakert yesterday after a meeting with Armenian refugees from Azerbaijan in the Karabakh town of Shushi. The Rapporteur noted the importance of such meetings in order to acquaint oneself with problems of these people. T. Davis also pledged to the Armenian refugees that during his visit to Azerbaijan he would without fail go to the Shahumian and Getashen regions, from where the entire Armenian population was deported. “To avoid repetition of such tragedies one should pay much attention to the problem of refugees, which is a constituent part of the Karabakh conflict,” the PACE Rapporteur said.
