EXTRADITION OF RAMIL SAFAROV TO AZERBAIJAN IMPOSSIBLE, HUNGARIAN AMBASSADOR STATED

Extradition of Azeri officer Ramil Safarov, who is suspected of the murder of Armenian lieutenant in Budapest, is impossible, Hungary’s Ambassador to Armenia Ferenz Contra told Arminfo agency. In his words, this homicide is a grave crime and taking into account the fact that Hungary and Azerbaijan do not have any agreement on extradition of prisoners, the Hungarian court should arrive at a verdict and the Azeri officer should serve his sentence in the Hungarian jail. “We do not wish this crime to involve Hungary in the conflict”, F. Contra emphasized. In his words, the Hungarian society is disinclined to this murder. “We are not accustomed to such crimes and would not like anyone to use it for political purposes”, the Hungarian Ambassador said.
