After a 10-day break the united Armenian opposition resumed its actions in Yerevan. During a rally held in the center of the Armenian capital last evening, where some 6 thousand gathered, opposition leaders stated they would hold meetings throughout the country on the coming few days. They also expected more support during the next procession to the presidential residence, scheduled for May 21. It should be noted that yesterday’s meeting followed unsuccessful attempts of talks between the authorities and the opposition, aimed at finding a way out of the internal political crisis. Oppositionists refused to present themselves at a meeting with representatives of the ruling political coalition, assuring the authorities had not released the “political prisoners” or ceased persecution of rally participants.
