The EU hails progress in relations with Armenia within European Neighborhood Policy. EU Troika delegation head, UK Special Representative for the South Caucasus Brian Fall stated it in the course of a joint news conference with Armenian FM Vartan Oskanian in Yerevan. In his words, the EU will display an individual approach to each country within the EU Neighborhood Policy. «We hold talks with various countries in the South Caucasus, taking into account their peculiarities,» he remarked. «Europe welcomes the Armenia’s and Georgia’s urge toward Europe. I should rather say, we move in a correct direction,» Brian Fall added. In his words, the date for starting talks with Armenia within the European Neighborhood Policy is not fixed yet. At that he reminded that British presidency of the EU completes December 31 2005. «We would like the talks to start during our presidency,» he added.
In his words, the EU is now trying to promote establishment of dialogue between Azerbaijan and Cyprus, as the problems in relations between these countries caused postponement of the talks with South Caucasian countries within the European Neighborhood Policy. «If Armenia and Georgia move towards Europe, it would be desirable for Azerbaijan to take the same course,» he remarked.
