Strong Armenia MPs direct bonuses to Tigranashen needs

National Assembly lawmakers, civil servants and employees will receive one-time bonuses for Independence Day. National Assembly Speaker Ruben Rubinyan signed an order on Sept. 18.

The amount of the bonuses has not been disclosed.

Lawmakers from the National Assembly’s Strong Armenia faction have decided to direct the entire amount of their bonuses toward addressing issues important to Tigranashen residents. Faction Secretary Tigran Abrahamyan announced the decision on his Facebook page.

“A detailed and public report will be presented in the coming weeks. Development, not handover,” Abrahamyan wrote.

Pashinyan has said Tigranashen is not included in the Republic of Armenia’s internationally recognized territory of 29,743 square kilometers, but denied that any specific decision has already been made to give up or hand over territory, stressing that no territorial change has taken place. He added that failure to find a legal solution to the issue would create a risk of war.
