Another Armenian nomination, titled “Areni-1 Cave: Prehistoric Life and Winemaking in the Arpa River Valley,” has been included on the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) World Heritage Tentative List, according to Armenia’s Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports.
The new nomination was developed through cooperation between the public and private sectors. The preparation process involved the Armenian Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports, the Areni-1 Cave Research Foundation and the Armenian Wine Tourism Council nongovernmental organization. The latter provided financial support for preparing the nomination.
The ministry also noted that Armenia is already a member of UNESCO’s World Heritage Committee.
