Dmitry Masleev launches first solo tour in Armenia

Pianist Dmitry Masleev, winner of the 15th International Tchaikovsky Competition, will embark on his first solo concert tour of Armenia in November with a program dedicated to Sergei Rachmaninoff.

The tour is being organized in cooperation between the Primavera Foundation charity and the Armenian State Philharmonic.

Masleev has previously performed in Armenia on numerous occasions, including with the Armenian National Philharmonic Orchestra under conductor Eduard Topchjan.

The pianist also heads the piano department of the Primavera Foundation and supports the professional development of young Armenian musicians. He has regularly held free masterclasses for aspiring pianists.

Masleev emphasized the importance of his artistic connection with Armenia, noting that every visit holds special significance for him.

“Every visit to Armenia is a special event and a source of inspiration for me. That is precisely why it is extremely important for me to travel to the regions, share my experience and make classical music accessible to everyone. My first solo concert tour dedicated to Rachmaninoff, along with the masterclasses and joint performances with local talents, is an expression of my gratitude to Armenia and its wonderful audiences,” the pianist said.

The upcoming tour will also give young Armenian performers an opportunity to share the stage with Masleev and perform an Armenian musical composition.

The pianist will personally select participants for the joint performances based on applications submitted in advance.

Applicants must be Armenian citizens and either be studying at or have graduated from the Yerevan Komitas State Conservatory or its Gyumri branch.

Young musicians participating in programs implemented by the Primavera Foundation will also be eligible to apply.

Masleev’s tour will include concerts in Yerevan and several other Armenian cities. Admission to the concerts in Vardenis and Kapan will be free.

The concert schedule is as follows:

November 17 — Vardenis Music School No. 1, free admission.

November 19 — UWC Dilijan College, Dilijan.

November 21 — Arno Babajanyan Concert Hall, Yerevan.

November 23 — Organ Hall of Kapan State College of Arts, free admission.

On November 22, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., Masleev will conduct piano masterclasses in the Grand Hall of the Arno Babajanyan Concert Hall.
