Metsola pledges continued European Parliament cooperation with Armenia

The European Parliament will continue its close cooperation with Armenia, its president Roberta Metsola said during a meeting with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan in Brussels.

Metsola welcomed Pashinyan’s visit to the European Parliament and emphasized the importance of the active political dialogue between the two sides. She said these contacts contribute to the development of Armenia-European Union relations and the expansion of cooperation.

Pashinyan addressed the broader Armenia-EU cooperation agenda, noting that recent high-level meetings and events demonstrate the strength of the relationship.

The prime minister highlighted the European Parliament’s role in developing the partnership between Armenia and the European Union and bringing the two sides closer together.

According to Pashinyan, the European Parliament has consistently supported the deepening of Armenia-EU relations, and the Armenian government highly values that support.

Pashinyan also attached particular importance to the European Parliament’s position on granting Armenia trade preferences for a two-year period.

During the meeting, the two officials exchanged views on key issues on the Armenia-EU agenda and opportunities for further cooperation.

They also discussed regional developments and initiatives aimed at improving transport connectivity.

The official meeting was followed by an exchange of gifts.

Pashinyan presented Metsola with a miniature replica of the Armenian alphabet commemorative sculpture “Armatagir — The Power of Dialogue,” donated to the European Parliament.

Metsola, in turn, presented Pashinyan with a bronze commemorative medal of the European Parliament.
