India is supplying Armenia with guided rockets for its previously acquired Pinaka multiple-launch rocket systems, although Indian media reports differ on the number involved.
According to Indian Defence Research Wing, the shipment comprises 1,000 guided rockets manufactured by Solar Defence and Aerospace Limited at its facility in Nagpur, India.
However, India Today reported a different figure of 700 rockets, also cited in a video report published on November 5, according to Naked Science.
Both reports concern the first batch dispatched from the same manufacturing facility. The discrepancy in the reported quantities remains unresolved.
The guided Pinaka rockets were developed by India’s Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO). Their guidance systems allow trajectory corrections during flight, improving accuracy compared with unguided rockets.
Indian Defence Minister Rajnath Singh announced the start of deliveries during a visit to the Nagpur facility on January 18, 2026. India’s Defence Ministry did not specify the number of rockets at the time.
Armenia publicly displayed its Pinaka launchers during the Republic Day military parade in Yerevan on May 28. The systems are known locally as “Shant.”
