PACE TAKES INTEREST IN SITUATION IN ARMENIA

The main objective of my visiting Armenia is to get acquainted with the situation in the country, especially in the light of the PACE April resolution, Secretary General of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe Bruno Haller stated today during the meeting with Armenian Foreign Minister Vardan Oskanian. At the same time he expressed hope that till the PACE September session the Armenian leadership and opposition will find a way-out of the created situation and continue legislative activities. As reported by RA MFA press service, the parties also discussed the process of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict settlement and noted the necessity of conducting measures for consolidating the atmosphere of trust in the region. In this view PACE Secretary General pointed out the significance of cooperation between the parliaments of the South Caucasian states reminding that his mission is to search for ways for stimulating the parliamentary dialogue.
