Within the 58-th session of the UN General Assembly yesterday election for the UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) was held. Armenia, Belarus and Poland were claiming the two vacant places. As reported by the press service of the foreign ministry of Armenia, having collected 127 votes, Armenia became ECOSOC member for a term of two years. Poland and Belarus, not having gathered the necessary number of votes, continue the struggle for the remaining second place. It should be noted that the ECOSOC is considered one of the UN authoritative bodies after the Security Council.
